CBI: Looking at it from the club’s
perspective, do you think that the
population you’re talking about
is a viable market?
KR: Absolutely. The wheelchair
community may be a small commu-
nity, but the number of people with
disabilities is large and growing.
There are tons of people out there
who have undergone surgery or who
have problems with their back, hips,
or knees—that’s a huge part of the
population, right now—and can’t do
stuff that’s weight-bearing. We’re
also talking about a lot of the baby
boomers, too. They’re getting older
and beginning to recognize the need
to stay in shape, and many of them
can’t handle the weight-bearing
required by a treadmill or, even,
an elliptical crosstrainer.
