WHY CAMP
There is no environment on this world like camp,
is Good!
which is why parents, campers and the people that
work at camp love to share their stories about how
a positive camp experience impacted their lives
EDUCATION BEYOND COMPARE
Andrea Mager, Staff Member & Former Camper
It all started as an introductory week when I was 10 years old and it
led to 12 memorable summers in Bracebridge: six years as a camper,
two in the leadership programs and four as a staff member.
The smiling faces that return year after year is what makes camp
a unique experience. From a young age, we were taught the impor-
tance of appreciating one another, as well as the natural environment
surrounding us. Campers living and learning these values grow to
become leaders and staff, ever expanding their ability to teach these
values as a mentor while remembering how to laugh like a friend.
My experience at summer camp is one that cannot be taught
within the four walls of a classroom: how to paddle in a canoe, how
to share a space and live with others at 10 years old, how to build a
campfire, how to push myself to my limits and beyond, how to take
initiative and be a leader, how to sing and cheer for everyone on every
team, how to make a new friend, how to be compassionate and re-
flective, and most significantly, how important it is for a child to ex-
plore, learn and be creative in the beauty of our natural environment
surrounded by encouraging, caring people.
Camp will teach a child life lessons that go beyond a summer
spent beside the lake — ones that cannot be learned anywhere else
in the world.
