the camp is equipped (on-site) or has a
strategy in place to ensure quick and
competent emergency response and
everyday wellness.
9. Does the camp have a system to
transport campers to and from the
camp?
If the camp offers transportation it
should provide detailed information
about pick-up and drop-off points,
costs, and the quality and amount of
supervision.

WHAT TO PACK
Those first few days of camp will
involve lots of new things! Involving
your child in the packing process will
help him or her feel less anxious and
more excited about what lies ahead.
You need to be organized but an
excited child is what it’s all about!
Shopping, labeling and packing can
allow some wonderful opportunities
for kids to ask questions and express
concerns. Here are some tips to
remember:
• Ask for an itemized list from the
camp that your child is attending.
If your camp does not supply a
suggested clothing list then you can
find a multitude of web sites that will
give you very detailed lists.
• It is important for you to find out
what the camp policies are regarding
packing items like cell phones,
electronic devices, medication,
footwear and food. Be respectful of
the policies.
• Be sure that you also ask about laundry
service and how often it is done.
• Many kids will want to buy all new
gear for camp! A few new items are
exciting, but try to avoid over
indulging.
• Some of the super important things
to remember: good rainwear, solid
closed-toed footwear for hiking,
running shoes for active games,
sunscreen, bug repellent, a camera
(labeled clearly!), bathing suit, a
couple of photos from home, a
stuffed animal, water bottle, hat,
flashlight, a couple of books,
scrapbook or memory book, game or
small craft that your child can do with
the cabin group.
• LABEL EVERYTHING!!! •
