2009
NOMINATIONS
ALL BRITAIN AWARDS
T
he accolade of ‘Nominated for All Britain’ is
one treasured by any breeder and it seems that
more and more members are throwing their hat
into the ring with a record 143 entries to round off
the Centenary show season.
Initial nominations are made by the three Royal Show judges,
so this year that meant that Mick Gould, John Dennison and
Harri Evans were brought together to begin the task of selecting
the fi nalists. It is always interesting to see which cows prevail
when they are brought together and this year sees a balanced
mix with each of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales
well represented.
Nine classes were generated from the entries including a new
‘Fourth Calver’ class so that ‘Mature Cows’ are exactly that at
fi ve lactations or more and it is a credit to the breed that there
were 22 entries qualifying for these two older categories.
47 National judges have voted for their favourites and the
results will be announced at the Dinner following the National
All Breeds Show and reported in the April issue of the Journal.
