isitors usually flock to this area from early morning
to see the sunrise. To catch this spectacle, you have
to climb Mt Pananjakan, the highest mountain in this
area. The route that you have to pass to Mt Pananjakan is
really difficult because it is extremely narrow with many
sharp bends. Since you need a high level of off-road driving
skills to survive this route, most visitors choose to rent
hardtop jeeps with local drivers.
At the top, you will find some kiosks offering hot coffee
or tea to warm you up, and there are also stores which
rent warm clothes. Watching the sunrise is an eagerly
anticipated event. Visitors patiently wait from five o’clock
in the morning constantly looking east, afraid to miss the
precious moment. However, you are not always able to
catch it if it’s cloudy. If the sky is clear, the sun will appear
as small as a match head. Then slowly it grows bigger and
bigger, lighting its surroundings and revealing the most
