LYNX Engineering of Northampton has recently been appointed by ALPEGO to help develop the UK market
for its high quality range of products.
ALPEGO Power Harrows feature a unique patent which enables high
horsepower power transmission through the central gearbox without the
need for expensive cooling. Combined with a unique Twin Force rotor
trough system and dual Timken taper roller bearings set at a wide distance
apart, the rotor and bearings are able to absorb side forces whilst letting
soil flow between the exterior bearing supports. Set at 250mm centres, the
rotors operate at a higher rotor speed providing greater torque benefits.
LYNX managing director Nick Ewbank, believes that whilst the UK market for power harrow cultivation has
declined, many seedbeds still benefit from this approach. With the ALPEGO range capable of working at
much higher speeds than previously considered, farmers and contractors can now produce the perfect
seedbed at a much more realistic cost whilst utilising the high hp tractors found on many large farm estates.
ALPEGO Power Harrow Drill Combinations
There are a number of drill sizes and combinations to satisfy demand for these hardworking machines.
On the smaller AS2 4, 5 & 6m versions the seed tank is mounted onto the 3-point linkage frame with
the crumbler roller and seed sowing discs being mounted onto a
separate parallelogram linkage allowing independent movement.
Seed depth is thus ensured to remain accurate across the
drill width and in varying soil conditions.
For larger AS3 folding drill units - 4, 5 & 6m - the ALPEGO system benefits
by its simplicity of operation. The front tank unit relies on a vacuum to
suck the seed back into the rear holding tank, which in turn keeps the
distribution hopper topped up. Cultivation and drilling speeds of 8-10kph
are achievable with these units. The seeder unit is removed by undoing
just 4 bolts allowing the power harrow to work on its own if required.
