Forth Replacement Crossing takes
scheme extended
step forward with Heath Lambert
to MSPs
appointment
Last summer the Association for
Consultancy and Engineering launched
a scheme to promote MP visits to
engineering projects across the country.
This year the scheme is being widened
in Scotland to include members of the
Scottish Parliament for the first time.
Firms looking to raise their own profile
can work with ACE to help promote
engineering at the same time. They
have a chance to build contacts with
MPs and MSPs in their local areas. And
the politicians can take back useful
knowledge about the issues facing our
sector.
To take part in the project in
Scotland, ACE is asking for information
on upcoming or ongoing projects that
members have underway. It is hoped that
visits will take place regularly and across
the country, and firms need not take part The Scottish Government’s Forth Crossing project while delivering the

ACE aims to make political visits a
simple process. To take part firms need
only provide the name and address of the
project and an estimate of the number of
people working on it. Alongside that the
type of development, whether a hospital,
school or windfarm, is important too.
The original scheme was launched
alongside ACE’s parliamentary reception
in October. Several visits have already
been arranged and it is hoped this will
keep engineering high on the political
agenda ahead of the next election. It can
also give firms some valuable exposure
for their work.
