Women’s Ministry Council 2010
We begin a new year and a new decade. Time really does fly doesn’t it? One of the best ways to make all of our time
count is to spend it with Jesus. Make it a purposeful year and get closer with our God through the Bible studies and
other events available at Desert Hills Presbyterian Church.
Before we look at the 2010 opportunities, I wish to glance back to the December Tea. What a success with the largest attendance
ever at 115 ladies from a registration of 125.
The fifteen hostesses set “beautiful tables” and the food was “so fresh and tasty”. These were comments heard around the room. We
wish to thank everyone who helped to make this day a success and especially the four high school girls who volunteered to serve.
June Volk spoke to us of the ties between Christians and the Jewish people. As a Jewish woman who came to Jesus as her savior,
June has so much to say and it was enlightening and emotional. If you were unable to hear June speak you may wish to read her
book, “The God Who Answers By Fire – A Jewish Saga.”
This was truly a festive and special day to usher in the Christmas Season. We praise God for the day and again thank everyone.
Winter Bible studies started at the end of January. If you are not in one, it is not too late to quickly get involved. Just give a call or

The current ongoing studies are:
• Wed. morning-Community Bible Study-The Book of Genesis
• Thurs. morning-Understanding Jesus in the World of Luke
• Thursday evening-Esther (currently in middle of study)
• Fri. morning-Covenant: God’s Enduring Promise
• Sat. morning-Weekly Scripture study of Sunday’s Scripture-no registration needed-just come to the class.
Women’s Winter Retreat
Check your calendar for February 20th. If you have not scheduled the Women’s Winter Retreat you really should sign
up next Sunday between services.
The retreat is an encore visit from Janet Drez who enlightened everyone last year. Janet will have us learning more and loving our
Lord in a very personal way. She will also keep us laughing. Everyone needs to laugh and good laughter is equal to the benefits of
a jog. Come and enjoy the wonderful luncheon along with Janet Drez. Go home feeling so much richer and closer to the Lord as
well as refreshed from that jog. Bring a friend who would enjoy sharing this lovely day.
The Retreat is Saturday, February 20, 2010. Registration is 9:30 a.m. and the Retreat is 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in DHPC Fellowship
Center. Cost is $25.00
