Being in the field of exercise, health and wellness
solely for the past eight years, and owning and
operating my private studio for the last four, I have

others plain dangerous! One thing I have found is
that one size does not fit all, and what works for one

may or may not work for the other.
Like the saying goes, variety is the spice of life,
and you can definitely apply this to exercise. If you
have been following my articles in the past, you will
already know that I am not an advocate for aerobic-
based exercise programs. Not to say that there is
anything wrong with aerobics exercise or to take
away from its followers and competitors, (marathon
running, tri-athletics, etc). I fully appreciate the
ambitiousness of pushing your known limitations
and discovering the ones you never knew you had. I,
on the other hand, am against the way it is marketed
and used for the purpose of fat reduction and overall
health. The true science shows clearly how it is not.
This topic is complex and beyond this article.
With that said, let’s shift to the article agenda of
step aerobics classes. First, I am not a step aerobics
instructor, but I have in the past taught group classes
related toward “fitness” or the gym ideology of it.
My point of view is coming from my professional
experience related toward exercise and its potential
for negative or positive outcomes.
There are many variables that would make any
group-training situation, including step aerobics,
a potentially good or bad experience. I believe
that the main factor is the instructor. For instance
