The igloo, which has been seen at festivals like Glastonbury and Snowbombing over the
last year, is a 360° fully immersive projection system that surrounds its inhabitants with LED TMH-3
stunning HD graphics and sound. Previously available as a 12.5 metre geodesic dome, its
creators have recently spawned a larger, 20 metre igloo, which can be coupled with its

older brother, or used separately.
Recently, as part of Smirnoff’s Creative Grants - an initiative which aims to discover, sup-

port and celebrate budding nightlife promoters of one-of-a-kind events and experiences ��������������������������
– the smaller dome came indoors and was temporarily installed into Glasgow’s O2 ABC
������������������������������
venue and showcased 3D Disco, which was created by NOVAK collective.

The whole igloo experience is packaged into an immersive dome structure, designed from

the ground up to be completely portable and comes complete with a choice of DAS Audio
������������������
or Tannoy sound systems, crew, flooring, 5 x 5000 lumen 1080p Mitsubishi FL7000U
HD projectors and its purpose built, igloo media servers. These are PC based systems
designed and built in house that run igloo’s own playback software. Providing the technical
rundown, igloo’s Colin Yellowley said: “igloos proprietary sync player with edge blending,

and complete geometry correction algorithm. This includes technical setup (rack mounted

multi processor infrastructure with multiple media storage capacity, 15-gigabyte media
management array, and 2-terabyte media server. The software to sync the five media
channels for audiovisual output, the synchronisation of frame-by-frame geometry correc-
tion. Edge blending of both geometry corrected footage and frame by frame gamma level
control.

supplied through the guys at Red Square Audio. And for corporate and exhibition stand
work we have a Tannoy V6 System. This is a flown, smaller sound reinforcement system
giving high frequency coverage over the whole of the igloo floor, and is used as the 6.1 sur-
round sound system. It comprises of six tannoy V6 speakers and a VS15 BP sub.”
