Tell us a little about yourself:
My name is Mahogany Boisseau I was raised in Washington Heights, NY. I
moved to Hackensack, NJ during my high schools years. I currently reside in
Atlanta, GA. I am extremely spiritual person and an outspoken realist. I am
also one of the most loving positive people you will ever meet. I am a non-
conformist who does anything my heart is guided to do.
What are the positive aspects of wearing natural hair?
One positive aspect to having natural hair is not having chemicals in your hair
that cause damage. Everything else that is positive about wearing natural hair
is all about your mindset. If you go natural because it is the thing to do or you
go natural because you want to judge others that are not natural it turns entirely
negative. So the positive aspects of being natural are all about the individual’s
perception of it.
Describe your own natural hair transition(s)?
My transition was an extremely hard one. I had people that were close to me
telling me I wasn’t as pretty without a relaxer. To make a bad situation even
worse they told me I looked a mess and that this was a phase. The first year I
had no idea how to style my natural hair. When transitioning from relaxed hair
to natural I wore micro braids. The micro braids pulled out my hair and I cut
off the relaxed ends. My hair was ear length and it grew from there. I really
found out how strong I was at that point in my life.
