Curling at Torridon, Kilmacolm
On 9th & 10th January. On the second day Kilmacolm Curling Club played a
friendly match against Port Glasgow Curling Club.
Curling on Castle Semple Loch
Although the Grand Match wasn’t able to go
ahead, some members of Lochwinnoch Curling
Club challenged members of Dalry Union
Curling Club to an outdoor match on Castle
Semple Loch, Lochwinnoch. This took place on Sunday 10th January and an
enjoyable day was had by all.
Thanks to Robin & Jenny Smellie for the use of the pond.
Lochwinnoch Curling Club was formed in 1827, and although the stones
from this era probably didn’t survive, we were playing with some stones
produced in the Lochwinnoch Curling Stone Factory, which at one time was
Kilmacolm Curling Club
the largest curling stone manufacturer in the world.
If anyone would like to join us to try curling, we hope to arrange a game for
beginners during the season when we have enough names. Contact Norman
