Snowdug?
These photos were sent in by Ian
Woodrow of Houston who reckons that
snowmen are a bit of a cliché so he
made this snowdog in his garden in the
recent snowy weather.
Annual Quiz
Night
Houston Friends of Accord
are holding their Annual Quiz Night on Friday
19th February at 8pm in the JG Fleming Bowling Club, South
Street, Houston.
Tickets for the event cost £7 and this includes a light supper. They can
be obtained from Rita Jackson (690623), Joan Andrew (690463) or any
member of the committee.
Houston Kirk in 2010
As we step into a New Year and take stock of the projects we have started
and need to complete, we can refl ect on another busy year and another
hectic Christmas period. Mention should be made of the Kirk Postie, which
successfully made money for Accord and St Vincent’s hospices and Chas.
We had a wonderful response to the Gift Service for Glasgow City Mission,
with generous donations of hats, gloves, scarves and selection boxes at a
desperately cold time this year.
DVDs of the Christmas concert are still on sale at £4.99 each, and are
available at the back of the church.
The many Church organisations have resumed after the Christmas break and
are looking forward to a full and active year, from the Youth Organisations
to the Guild to our other groups like the Walking Group and the Scottish
Country Dancing Group. On January 7th we had a very successful Cèilidh,
music provided by the Elderberries, with special cabaret contributions from
the Scottish Country Dancing Group, Nigel Jamieson and Angus Mathieson.
This raised over £800 and was enjoyed by all.
Donald and Liz go on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land over the next weeks and
we wish them an inspiring journey and a safe return.
