Bespoke eLearning – developing eLearning

QA has been working with a leading global networking company since July 2007 to develop a series
a product features
overview and an
of eLearning programmes to support its learning requirements.
international unit.
The challenge
The company needed to provide its induction policy training in a
flexible format – the training caters for a large number of areas,
and not all sections were relevant to all staff.
The programme needed to deliver:
A natural flow of learning to accommodate the communications
professional of today
A flexible solution that makes relevant learning infinitely and easily
available to end users, ultimately improving job and organisational
performance
A structure that allows expansion to cover more products when
deemed appropriate
The solution
QA recommended a modular approach, tailored to the company’s
Learning Management System (LMS) and allowing different
modules to be targeted to individuals or teams based on their job
role. Using this system meant that the HR team could check
which of the 11 modules had been completed by each individual. 15
The content for the induction needed to be comprehensive, so
the modules contained a lot of information. In order to make this
more appealing, and retain the learner’s attention throughout the
process, QA created three characters to lead the eLearning.
By using the characters to exchange dialogue, the eLearning was
able to educate through scenarios set in different ‘office’ locations
– for example the HR office or the canteen. Wherever possible,
client-specific content and examples were used.
Throughout the training a ‘proof of learning’ approach was used,
including tests and the option to print a certificate of completion.
Once the module was completed the learner had the option to
download a ‘cheat sheet’ summary for future quick reference.
QA’s experienced training team developed the content of the modules,
including an introduction to systems, a product features overview and
an international unit.
The eLearning was web based and created with a professional
voiceover.

certificate of completion.”
