Schumann Das Paradies und die Peri
Schumann And The Bard Of Erin
Based on the oriental epic Lalla Rookh by Thomas Moore, Schumann’s
‘secular oratorio’ tells the tale of the Peri, the fallen angel, who may not enter
Paradise until she provides the heavenly gatekeeper with ‘the gift heaven
prefers above all others’. Renowned Irish soprano Sinéad Mulhern leads a
strong line-up in a rare chance to hear this masterpiece.
