Food
Winter
Following my New Year’s resolution – to
live life to the fullest. I decided to have a
BBQ in winter...yep!
This was my latest adventure!
Even though it started to rain and it was
BBQ
freezing, It turned out to be the best BBQ
food ever!!
Chef: Vaqas Farook
Preparation
Buy chicken/meat from your butchers (lamb
chops, prawns, fi sh, boneless chicken, boneless
lamb and baby chicken) Buy a few boxes of
‘Shan Masala’ (BBQ Mix fl avours) Follow the
instructi ons on the back of the Shan box Leave
your items in the fridge for a few hours.
BBQ
Place BBQ charcoal in your BBQ.
Spray lighter fl uid all over your charcoal.
Light a newspaper and throw it on your
charcoal. Make sure your charcoal stays alight
for around 30 minutes (the fl ame does not
need to be big). Spray lighter fl uid if you need
to and make sure the fl ame is spread on all
of charcoal. Your charcoal should turn greyish
and look like it’s burning, i.e. it should have
a hint of red in it. When the fl ames die down
you’re ready to BBQ your food. Ensure that
the charcoal is hot (by just waving your hands
over it).
Start cooking your food. Place your food either
on skewers or directly on to the grill of the BBQ.
Lightly brush oil on your food and rotate around
your items at regularly intervals. Make sure that
your food is cooked inside as well.
Serve
Pitt a Bread/Buns
Sauces
Salad
PLEASE NOTE:
Make sure you purchase the correct ‘BBQ charcoal’. First ti me round my friends brought ‘charcoal for open
house fi res’ and ended up wasti ng two hours trying to start the BBQ unti l the master chef (me) came along and
corrected the situati on! Be careful guys not to burn yourselves.
Throw water over the charcoal aft er you have fi nished and leave for a few hours to cool down.
