CONCERTS IN THE WEST 2010: THE LITTLE BAROQUE
COMPANY: TRIO SONATAS BY THE ITALIAN MASTERS
Helen Kruger and Frouke Mooij - violins; Kinga Gaborjani -
violoncello or gamba; and Manuel Minguillón - theorbo. The Little
Baroque Company presents a feast of lively Italian trio sonatas, the
most popular instrumental genre of the time, eagerly consumed
throughout Europe by both the court and amateurs. The programme
showcases some of the astonishing works of the Italian masters,
from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries – Vivaldi, Merula, Campioni
and Corelli. The Little Baroque Company is a multi-national ensemble
with players from Hungary, Holland and Australia, all dedicated to
performing on period instruments. See also the feature on page 06.
