The Latest from Lovely La Jolla
Elizabeth Hansen’s blog
www.LaJollaTravelInformation.com has just won a San Diego Press Club Excellence in
Journalism First Place Award. “I’m over the moon about it,” she told WPu.
The blog provides inside information for travelers visiting La Jolla, California - a community within the City of San
Diego. Hansen is an experienced travel writer and has written the Frommer Guide to San Diego as well as many
feature articles on La Jolla and San Diego. Her goal is to see that visitors enjoy their time in La Jolla (her hometown),
including “local” attractions and activities overlooked by most out-of-towners.
Recent posts include “Why am I doing this?”, Can I Offer You a Cocktail? , and “Larry King, spiny lobsters, and high
tides” - the latter being a calendar of upcoming events.
If you are planning to visit La Jolla or are in need of features or photos of this scenic Southern California community,

VINO IN THE VALLEY AND TREKS IN TASMANIA
An insatiable bushwalker, British-born MARIE BARBIERI is now a permanent resident in South Australia. Marie
is either out trudging through untamed bush, strolling around lush national parks, cycling along coastal bike
paths where dolphins and dugongs are but a stones’ throw away or sweltering in Australia’s heart where the
world turns to all shades of bloodied reds.
Having recently returned from exploring Australia’s wine capital,
the Barossa Valley, Marie can now claim to have toured some of its
rose bush-lined roads in the very Daimler our Queen Elizabeth sat
in. Marie experienced degustation menus in luxury retreats, wine-
tasting 100-year-old vintages in the deep, dark cellars of imposing
chateaux and lavender ice-cream at Lyndoch’s lavender farm (see
pic).
Marie is planning to tour the entire Eyre Peninsula in December
and welcomes commissions on any subject within the area. And
in January she will be descending onto Tasmania’s glorious Bay
of Fires, where she fears for the capacity of her camera’s many
memory cards. Marie has written for inflight magazines such as Silverkris and Jetstar, and has contributed to
a wide variety of travel magazines to include: Wanderlust and Australia & New Zealand (UK), and Holidays for
Couples, Great Walks and Arrivals + Departures (Australia).
Marie welcomes words and pictures packages on any subject in South Australia, as well as the Greek islands
(Mykonos, Paxos and Crete), France (The Verdon Gorge), and Italy (Capri, Pavia and Parma). With links to Italy’s
lesser known province of Piacenza, and several recent trips back to Italy, Marie is offering a feature with an
unusual angle; touring the area’s historic hill-top castles, to include Gropparello, Vigoleno and Rivalta, as well as
an excavated Roman village. Marie can also provide high-resolution digital photography to illustrate her work.
