This year around 1600 people attended the event, making it easily the best attended awards ceremony on the spice industry calendar. As well as
leading restaurateurs, eminent businessmen, politicians and diplomats, there was the usual sprinkling of celebrities, from the worlds of media,
entertainment, sport and culture.

The star of the show was undoubtedly David Cameron, who many people view as being the ‘Prime Minister in Waiting’. In a perfectly worded
speech, he touched on the history of the industry and praised Britain’s £3.5 billion curry restaurant industry for showing what can be achieved
when communities come together. He also highlighted the entrepreneurial spirit and family values that underpin the achievements of this indus-
