EAT THiS
STK – 755 North Cienega Blvd.
The tagline for STK, located at 755 North Cienega Blvd. in WeHo, says that the
establishment is “not your daddy’s steakhouse.” Well, i hope not…because my
dad’s idea of an upscale steak experience consisted of either adding a splash more
of lighter fluid to charcoal briquettes for his brand of grilling meat within an inch
of its former life, or barely containing his excitement when Carl’s Jr. added a steak
sandwich to their drive-thru menu. So, knowing that STK has set out to lose the
“overly masculine vibe that has long been the trademark of its genre,” sounds like a
breath of fresh air. This self-contained meat packing district boasts two floors, and
if the address seems familiar, that’s because Coco de Ville is located inside, too!

The holidays are a time to express gratitude toward good fortune that can be found in relationships within
family and friends. it is also the time of year where giving to charity is the name of the game. Well, there is
a way to donate and celebrate latino and Korean cultures at the same time. Festival Navideño en la Calle
ocho means “Christmas on 8th Street,” and is the largest toy drive held in los Angeles, between Normandie
and Vermont Avenue on Saturday, December 12 and Sunday, December 13. What it also equates is a
street festival with musical stages, entertainment, food vendors and a visit from Santa Claus. But more im-
portantly, it will provide a child with a toy and most likely a smile, as last year’s festivities distributed 35,000
playthings and event organizers hope to beat that record by 10,000 this year! it’s a great way to provide a
little bit of joy during this special time of year and spread a bit of the non-demoninational cheer.
