group open to all people with open,
inquisitive minds, will deal with this
question at its December meeting.
The session begins at 7:00 p.m. in the
sewing room of Oakwood’s Arts & Crafts
Center.
Debate over reform of health care in
the United States has been a bitter and
divisive battle. Reform is equated with loss
of choice and loss of services. Failure to
reform is equated with spirally costs and
increasing numbers of people unable to
afford care.
Yet few of the debates have addressed
basic premises like: What should be the
role of government in health care? How
should costs be shared between the
consumer of health care services and any
third party payors?
The December Restless Minds session,
led by Roberta Reed, will consider the
balance between public health initiatives
and personal health care, choice as it
applies to consumers, providers and third
party payors, how the decisions are made
regarding what treatments are justifi able,
how the line should be drawn to determine
what the patient pays for and what an
insurance program/government program
should pay for and whether this line should
be the same for all citizens regardless of
age, job status, military service or lifestyle
choices.
Restless Minds meets the fi rst Tuesday
of each month, September through June.
