MY I-ON DESIGN
Daniel Johnson

Daniel Johnson, director of Studio One and Paper Tiger, tells i-on about a
few of his favourite things.
What’s your favourite room in your house?
The study is my favourite room because it doesn't have much
in it. We have a beautiful G-plan desk and some bookcases. I
like hiding in there and shutting out the world.
What has been the most worthwhile interiors/design
investment you’ve made?
My two Eames plywood chairs are my most prized pieces of
furniture. They are simple in form yet amazingly comfortable,
despite being solid plywood. You sort of sink into them and they
hold you in place.
Whose style do you admire?
I am a mid-20th century design junkie and think what Le
Corbusier did in terms of rethinking living spaces was amazing.
My DIY nightmare is…..

is all down to his work in the ‘30s.
The interior I’ve been most impressed with is…
If money was no object, how would you furnish a home?

building. Quite mesmerising.
If you could live somewhere else where would it be?
Biggest design faux pas people make…
A New York loft or a remote alpine villa in Switzerland.
Too much furniture or being too flash. Less is always more.
What makes a house a home?

My top interiors tip…
Who would be your dream house guest?
Choose a colour palate and stick to it. It provides continuity.
Perhaps a laidback chef like Nigel Slater.
