City and Guilds 3598 level 2 and 3 Award
ATTENDANCE: Year 1: Monday (9.00am-12.00pm) or Tuesday (3.00pm-6.00pm) Year 2: Wednesday (3.00pm-6.00pm) or Friday (9.00am-12.00pm) ENTRY: All applicants should: • Be over the age of 24 • Have a good standard of literacy and numeracy • Normally have a Level 3 qualification in their subject area • Have a minimum of 75 hours paid teaching in each academic year of the course in the post 16 teaching and training sector.
Teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages
TRINITY CertTESOL Level 4 This internationally recognised course is designed for those who have little or no experience of teaching English in the contemporary ESOL/EFL classroom and would like to take initial training as teachers of ESOL. The course equips you with the basic skills and knowledge needed to take up posts abroad or in the UK as ESOL or EFL teachers and gives you a firm foundation for self-evaluation and further professional development. ATTENDANCE: One afternoon per week for 1 year. ENTRY: Candidates must be aged over 18 and hold a Level 3 qualification. A high level of competence in spoken and written English is essential.
Assessor & Verifier Awards A1: Assess candidates using a range of methods V1: Conduct internal quality assurance of the assessment process. The A awards are for people who need to assess NVQs. Candidates need to have access to NVQ candidates and to be occupationally competent. The V awards are for those who manage the quality of assessment processes, teams of assessors and who are responsible for dealing with external verifiers. Candidates should have D or A units and have been practising as assessors for at least one year prior to enrolling for this award. ATTENDANCE: Attendance will normally be arranged to suit candidate need and will include an induction to the units, observation visits and portfolio building sessions.
in Work with Parents This qualification has been developed to support individuals who work with parents and wish to develop their knowledge and skills to effectively support parents in their parenting. ATTENDANCE: There will be attendance at evening classes for approximately 10 weeks. ENTRY: There are no formal entry requirements for the level 2 qualification; learners will need a satisfactory level of English, have an interest in working with parents or appointed new to a post in working with parents. Entry requirements for the level 3 learners should have English at GCSE grade C or above, have experience of working with parents or be employed in a role which focuses upon working with parents.
City and Guilds 7320 Award in Preparing to Support Learners Certificate in Learning Support
Level 2 and 3 This qualification is designed to meet the needs of general learning support practitioners who are working within the lifelong learning sector. ATTENDANCE: This will vary depending upon the elements of the qualification completed within Level 2 and 3. ENTRY: There are no formal entry requirements. An initial assessment will be completed before the start of the course. Some experience of working within the lifelong learning sector or supporting learners within education/training is required.

in Support Work In Schools (SWiS) This qualification has been designed for support staff within a school setting, or people who would like to develop skills within this area. It has a flexible structure which allows candidates to select units which match their current job role or desired job. ATTENDANCE: The qualifications have a flexible approach which will include some taught sessions and assessment within the workplace. ENTRY: There are no formal entry requirements. Learners will need to be either employed or working voluntarily in a school setting.
