Sports Development Coaching and Fitness
BTEC National Diploma Level 3 This in-depth course covers not only practical skills, but also aspects of Sports Psychology, Physiology, Nutrition and Work Experience. ATTENDANCE: 2 years. ENTRY: 5 GCSEs at C or BTEC First Diploma at merit level or higher, plus a good reference.
Certificate in Fitness Instructing
Level 2 YMCA A highly practical course for learners who wish to lead gym sessions within the fitness industry, including Training Programme Design and Exercise Techniques. ATTENDANCE: One day a week for approximately 24 weeks. Assessment dates and times to be confirmed. ENTRY: An active gym user, or experience of fitness instruction. Candidates must be over 18 by the time the qualification is completed in order to practice. Applicants who have already secured a work experience placement at a gymnasium will be given priority.
