This Level 1 programme combines a vocational course with work-related qualifications and work experience placements, giving students the skills and confidence to make their mark in life and the world of work.
Your knowledge of English, Maths, and Information Technology will be developed along with your communication and social skills enabling you to work more confidently with others. You will be supported all the way by your personal tutor. All students will spend three or four days in College plus one day on work placement. coming to college, I was quite quiet but tutors made sure that I worked and talked with people, having been bullied at school made this hard for me but after a while I was making friends without knowing it. People at the college really encouraged me and I want to do the same through drama and dance which really helps to build peoples confidence, breaks down communication barriers; a bit like a therapy would”.
Real Skills for Work ATTENDANCE: 1 year. ENTRY: Real Skills for Work is designed to meet the needs of young people who want a work- related learning experience and whose individual needs mean they would benefit from the extra support this programme provides. Whilst you don’t need any formal entry qualifications you will need to demonstrate at interview that you have a genuine interest in your chosen vocational area and a commitment to studying at College.
