Nick Fisher
Having finished his education at Haven High in Boston, Nick came to college to study A Levels. Following an aspiration to work with computers, encouragement from family urged him to enrol on the BSc (Hons) Computer Systems Engineering course.
Computer Systems Engineering BSc (Hons) Accredited by the University
of Sunderland This degree will provide you with a sound knowledge of software engineering principles and practice, and give you the technical skills needed to develop such systems. You will write programs in languages such as Java, Visual Basic and Javascript and use other application software. ATTENDANCE: 3 years, 16 hours per week, maximum 3 days per week. ENTRY: Usually a Level 3 qualification such as a National Diploma or A-levels, although candidates without the usual entry requirements may be considered. Students traditionally require 200 UCAS points, along with a grade C at GCSE in Maths and English, or Level 2 Key Skills in Communications and Application and Number. Mature students without any formal qualifications are advised to study the Access to Higher Education course first for 1 year. Factors such as work experience or vocational training will be taken into account when considering an entry application.
You can apply for this course through UCAS as well.

“The degree seemed the ideal route to take having always had an interest in computers, but did not really know where I wanted to go”.
“Although the course incorporates a range of
elements allowing us to look at Networking, Web Development and Hardware, it was Programming that I enjoyed the most”.
“Doing the degree at Boston College was ideal for me as it was close to home; I could save money and didn’t have to worry about accommodation costs. I would definitely recommend the course to anyone, especially if you are not sure of an area you want to specialise in. The tutors are really supportive and are always available to help you.”
