BTEC First Diploma (Level 2 ) This qualification prepares students for employment in the sector, raising awareness of issues such as ‘Individual Needs in Health and Social Care’. Health and Social Care sectors e.g. nursing home/ residential home. ATTENDNACE: 1 Year ENTRY: Minimum of 2 grade C’s and 2 grade D’s at GSCEs plus a good reference. Applicants will be subject to a Criminal Record Bureau check, to be paid for by the student.
Diploma in Child Care and Education
Cache (Level 2) This course prepares the student to work competently, safely and effectively in a supervised position with children aged 0 to 16 years. ATTENDANCE: 1 year. ENTRY: Minimum of 2 grade C and 2 grade D at GCSE and/or Foundation award in Caring for Children Level 1 with Distinction; plus a good reference, caring attitude and good communication skills. Applicants will be subject to a Criminal Record Bureau check, to be paid for by the student.
Diploma in Childcare and Education
Cache (Level 3) This qualification prepares students to work effectively with children aged 0 to 16 years. Also provides access to Higher Education, e.g. teacher training. ATTENDANCE: 2 years. ENTRY: 4 – 5 GCSEs at grade C or above (must include English) and/or Diploma in Childcare and Education Level 2 with Distinction. Excellent placement reports. Applicants will be subject to a Criminal Records Bureau check, to be paid for by the student.
BTEC National Diploma in Health and
Social Care (Level 3) This programme takes your professional practice and understanding to an advanced level enabling students on completion to access Higher Education including Nurse Training. ATTENDANCE: 2 years ENTRY: 5 GCSE’s grade C or above (must include English and Maths) plus a good reference. Applicants will be subject to a Criminal Records Bureau check, to be paid for by the student.
Children’s Care, Learning & Development
(CCLD) – NVQ Levels 2 & 3 A competence based CACHE qualification for those employed or working voluntarily in Childcare. Includes: caring for children’s physical and emotional needs, managing behaviour, promoting sensory and intellectual development, health, safety and protection. ATTENDANCE: Level 2: 1.5 hours per month for 1 year Level 3: 2 hours per month for 2 years. Daytime and evening provision is available various days/ locations. ENTRY: No formal entry requirements but students must have access to a relevant workplace for assessment to take place. Level 3 students must be working in a supervisory capacity. Applicants will be subject to a Criminal Records Bureau check, to be paid for by the student. Two references will also be required. All students will need to demonstrate at interview the personal skills and qualities required to support their professional development.
Certificate in Child Minding Practice (Part 1)
CACHE Level 3 Initial training for those wishing to become Home- based Childcarers (Childminders). This qualification will enable candidates to apply for registered Childminder status. ATTENDANCE: 3 Saturdays. Courses are offered several times per year. ENTRY: No formal qualifications. Applicants need to apply to Birth to 5 Services, Lincolnshire. This course is fully funded.
Nurse Cadet Scheme This scheme is offered in conjunction with Boston Pilgrim Hospital. With this course all students work in the hospital environment as a placement and should apply through the school of nursing. ATTENDANCE: 2 Years ENTRY: 5 GCSEs grade C or above (must include English and Maths) plus a good reference. Applicants will be subject to a Criminal Records Bureau check, to be paid for by the student.
