Business


BTEC National Diploma Level 3 Build your business experience with units such as Management, Product Promotion and Online Business. You also get the chance to take extra qualifications such as IFS Certificate in Financial Studies in year 1 and IFS Diploma in Financial Studies in year 2, both have up to 60 UCAS points attached to it. ATTENDANCE: 2 years. ENTRY: First Diploma with merit or distinction in a related subject, or Intermediate GNVQ with merit or distinction in a related subject or at least 5 GCSEs at A* – C, including English Language and/ or Mathematics.


AAT Accounting


Level 2 and Level 3 Industry standard professional accounting qualifications which will kick start your career in accountancy. Students will be required to purchase their own books throughout the course. ATTENDANCE: 1 year. ENTRY: Minimum 5 GCSEs at grades C or above, to preferably include English and Maths


ENTRY: Students may enter at the level appropriate to their qualifications and experience.


Computerised Book-Keeping


IAB Level 2 Certificate This is a first step in working with a computerised accounts system for a sole trader. You will ideally have prior knowledge/experience of basic book- keeping. ATTENDANCE: Monday, 6.30pm – 9.00pm for 12 weeks plus examination. (October and March starts). ENTRY: Preferably Level 2 Book-Keeping or an understanding of double entry book-keeping to that level.


Computerised Book-Keeping


Accounting – Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT): Foundation,


Intermediate and Technician Levels The qualification route for people who are working, or wish to work, as accounting technicians in finance and accounting in a wide range of organisations. ATTENDANCE: Daytime or evening. Foundation: TBC Intermediate: TBC Technician: TBC ENTRY: You can enter at the level that is appropriate to your qualifications and experience, with 5 GCSEs at grade A – C including Mathematics and English. Mature students will be considered based on experience.


Book-Keeping International Association of Book- keepers (IAB), Certificate in Book-


keeping Levels 2 and Diploma Level 3 Practical book-keeping skills relevant to people working at the first levels of financial accounting. These courses are equally appropriate to those aiming for a career in book-keeping, those wishing to retrain or those who require book-keeping skills for self-employment or voluntary work. ATTENDANCE: Tuesday 6.15pm – 9.30pm for 1 year, for both levels.


IAB Level 3 Diploma This new Level 3 qualification will introduce you to the preparation of final accounts for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and not-for-profit organisations, including VAT returns and year end procedures. ATTENDANCE: Wednesday, 6.30pm – 9.00pm for 12 weeks plus examination (October and March starts). ENTRY: Level 2 Certificate in Computerised Book-Keeping and/or Level 3 Book-Keeping or an understanding to this level.


Small Business Financial Management


IAB Level 3 Diploma Develop knowledge and skills associated with the financial aspects of running a small business. Includes keeping records, VAT, payroll, tax, costing and pricing and financial planning. ATTENDANCE: 20 weeks, one evening per week, to be confirmed. ENTRY: Good level of literacy and numeracy, interest in or currently running a small business.


Team Leading


NVQ Level 2 NVQs in Team Leading are versatile and cover job roles in a number of environments ranging from administrative to production functions. Improved Team Leading practices result in significant cost savings, improved performance and increased productivity. ATTENDANCE: You will be assessed in the workplace. ENTRY: You must be working in a suitable environment.
