Whether you’re developing skills for the workplace, want to progress onto Higher Education or learn more about the art, design and media industry, we have a range of courses and facilities to suit you. Study a wide range of subjects including sculpture, drawing, painting, printmaking, textiles, graphic design, ceramics, mixed media, photography (traditional and digital), and video.
Benefit from our facilities which include two Apple Mac suites, professionally equipped photographic studio, darkrooms, printmaking studio and ceramic studio, all with disabled access.
Courses range from level 1 to level 3 and staff give guidance on careers. Many of our students progress to University. In the last three years all students who applied were offered places at university.
Lauren Wilson
Lauren attended St Bedes School up until Year 11 when she decided to move onto College to study Media. “I have always known what I wanted to do. I knew I didn’t want to stay at school therefore College was the next option for me”.
Art, Design and Media
BTEC Introductory Diploma Level 1 This course is an introduction to Art, Design and Media for those with little or no experience and includes basic skills development. ATTENDANCE: 1 year. ENTRY: An interest and enthusiasm for the subject, successful interview. No formal qualifications are necessary.
Art & Design
BTEC First Diploma Level 2 A broad foundation in visual and technical design skills, including 2D and 3D design, drawing and the use of colour. Includes work-related projects with continuous assessment. ATTENDANCE: 1 year. ENTRY: Evidence of drawing ability, interest and enthusiasm for the subject, successful interview, minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade D – G. Plus portfolio of work.
“The course allows me to be really hands on; I get to do a variety of things. At the moment we are using a range of professional programmes to create posters for the College prom. We have already been able to produce our own music videos and work with animation”.
“Everyone is really helpful; tutors are there for you no matter what, whether it is personal or related to college work. The facilities are really good; we have access to a photography suite, dark room and Apple Mac computers”.
Lauren is progressing onto level 2 next year and hopes to then go onto University to study Magazine Layout, with her overall ambition being to work within the magazine/newspaper industry.
