ATTENDANCE: 20+ hours per week in the daytime. ENTRY: Normally 5 GCSEs at C or above. English Grade C or above required for all Language and Humanities subjects. English Literature Grade C or above for AS English Literature and Grade B required to study Mathematics. Your choice of subjects may be restricted dependent on the qualifications held. Mature students may be able to enter without these qualifications. The following are not acceptable as entry: First Diplomas, GNVQ or Non-academic GCSE profile.
BTEC National in Applied Science
(Forensic Science or Medical Sciences) The Edexcel BTEC National Award/Certificate in Applied Science has two options – Forensic Science and Medical Sciences.
The Award (year 1) provides the broad equivalent of two full AS levels and the Certificate (years 1 and 2) provides the equivalent of two full A levels and both provide UCAS points. This level 3 syllabus provides a pathway to university in Science related subjects. It will also prepare students for work in Science and Health related fields.
This course can be studied along with AS/A levels as a full-time course or separately as a part-time course.
BTEC National Award in Media
Production (Print Based) This course equips the student with a range of skills and knowledge, with an emphasis on areas relating to the print-based media industries. ATTENDANCE: 1 Year. ENTRY: 5 GCSEs at C or above and/or a BTEC First Diploma in Media (Merit or Distinction Level), plus interest in studying Media.
BTEC National Diploma in Media
Production This course equips the student with a broad range of Media skills and knowledge, with an emphasis on areas relating to the Print-based, Video, Interactive Media industries and Online Publishing. ATTENDANCE: 2 Years. ENTRY: 5 GCSEs at C or above and/or a BTEC First Diploma in Media (Merit or Distinction Level), plus interest in studying Media.
BTEC National Award in Art and Design This course equips the student with a range of Art and Design skills and knowledge. This will enable the student to make an informed decision about further study or a future career. ATTENDANCE: 1 Year. ENTRY: 5 GCSEs at C or above normally including Art and/or a BTEC First Diploma in Art and Design (Merit or Distinction Level).
BTEC National Award Photography This course equips the student with a range of photographic skills and knowledge. This will enable the student to make an informed decision about further study or a future career. ATTENDANCE: 1 Year.
ENTRY: 5 GCSEs at C or above and/or a BTEC First Diploma in Art and Design (Merit or Distinction Level).
GCSE English Language ATTENDANCE: Tuesday 6.30 – 8.30pm for 1 year.
GCSE Mathematics ATTENDANCE: Monday 7.00 – 9.00pm for 1 year.
GCSE Human Physiology and Health ATTENDANCE: Thursday 7.00 – 9.00pm for 1 year. ENTRY: No formal entry requirements but may be subject to interview.
These subjects are also offered on Wednesday afternoons.
