The CraCow DisTriCT hikes and Trips
educational path around the Zimny Dół
geological features preserve starts near the
karst Cold Hole Spring (Źródło w Zimnym
Dole). Apart from interesting rock formations,
rea
a
you can also enjoy the ivy which grows on
limestone walls and blooms beautifully in
the summer. It is one of the very few places
in Poland where the common plant actually
blossoms (!).
A gorge winding among the hills of the
ridge, adorned with numerous rocks, con-
stitutes the next section of the Sanka valley.
The most interesting part of the gorge is a

trail, although it is bypassed by the road. protected under the Mników Valley preserve,
looks especially beautiful when the trees have
enczyn
shed their leaves to expose the numerous
rocks. An image of St. Mary of Skała (Matka
The T
Boża Skalska), created in 1863 on a limestone
wall by Walery Eljasz-Radzikowski, a painter
and mountaineer, is yet another attraction.
It is best to set off from a car park located
on the north side of the preserve. From there,
you can also walk in the opposite direction
to the Półrzeczka Ravine (also the blue trail
also leads there). This quiet place is covered
by a beautiful beech forest. There are a few
rocks here, and where the valley starts, on
the edge of the fields, you can find entrance
to the Na Łopiankach Cave.
Going back to Cracow from mn i k Ó w is
very easy, a simple drive via Cholerzyn and
kr y s p i n Ó w . In the latter, a popular bathing
beach was created on former sand pits which
were flooded. The sandy beaches are guarded,
the water is crystal-clear and there are many
small restaurants and cafes. In short, it is
a great place to relax after a hike on a hot
