LONGEVITY SPECIAL
Three generations of Arabis’ make LP100 at Sandisfarne

ith an issue focussing on Longevity, it would have
been remiss not to check in on Andrew and Sue
Sanders’ Sandisfarne herd, which probably contains the
most cows still milking that have reached a minimum of
50 tonnes in the UK.
The Lifetime Achievements of the Sandisfarne cows were
covered in the June 2008 Journal which included details of two
three generation families of 100 tonne cows, the Faith and Ruby
lines, that were all still milking alongside seven other individuals,
all LP100. The Sanders have now achieved another group of
three generations of cows, all LP100 and still milking – the Arabis
family.

that the claims regarding the lack of longevity in Holsteins have
scored VG87, both still milking. The new LP100 cow, 6
