BREEDER ACHIEVEMENTS
Wortwell Jabot Honey Jane VG85 LP110
Bred and owned by CA Whipps & Sons
Honey Jane had a difficult start in life. This daughter of Delta Cleitus Jabot (out of a GP Petteril Cognac) was born in 1994
when BSE was at its height. An attractive, very correct calf with excellent temperament she was chosen and trained for
showing, only to be found early one morning upside down in a feed trough in a very bad way! Honey Jane made a
complete recovery but her superficial injuries caused her to miss the show!
Honey Jane calved for the first time at just under two years of age, a small white heifer with a 40 strong peer group in a
herd of 90 cows! The Wortwell herd at that stage consisted of two herds that had been decimated by the selective cull,
causing us to purchase 49 in-calf heifers from France. These personally selected animals were powerful heifers generally
nearer 3 years old than our home-breds, and were split between our herds. Despite the competition Honey Jane performed
well and continued to calve regularly during a period that included amalgamating the two herds to the other site!
Honey Jane is due to calve again for the 13th time in December having just turned 15 years old! During her 12 lactations
she has yielded consistently giving over 110 tonnes of milk. Still a small cow in stature, she has always remained beautifully
formed. Classified GP81 as a heifer, she went VG six years later.
Honey Jane’s daughters have all classified GP as heifers, the best arguably being by All Nure Bellwood Larky and gaining
GP82 whilst looking a clone of her mother! We await expectantly her calving next month to Wa-Del Hayden, whilst Honey
Jane continues on, a little slower and greyer, but having outlived all her peer group (including the French ones) and the
next year’s too!

Queenscairn Integrity Kimo EX92-6E LP100

Bred & owned by R Shanks, Queenscairn
Breeding cattle requires a fair degree of luck, as John
Jamieson (Annan) is never slow to point out when he
reflects on our purchase of two Kimo embryos from him that
resulted in two heifer calves being born at Queenscairn.
Both heifers were by Integrity, both went VG as heifers,
luckily the Kimo mentioned here has left us a stream of
heifers, all of which have gone VG.
Queenscairn Integrity Kimo EX92 is 7 generations VG or
EX, her dam is Painley Prelude Kimo 5 EX (purchased at
Black and White sale for 6800gns), grand dam Primsland
Inspiration Kimo VG88.
Kimo herself has always been easy to get in calf and flushed
well too. A Shoremar James son (Queenscairn King James) and
a Comestar Lheros son (Queenscairn Kimosan) have been
used as stock bulls at Queenscairn. Stock bulls sold from her
so far include Q Kenny (by Outside) to Findatie; Q Kimono
(by Lheros); Q Kiev (by Shottle) to Kennetsideheads, and
Q Kimosabi (by Lheros) to Smailholm. Her grandson Q
Kimble (out of Lheros Kimo 5 x Shottle) sold for 5000gns at
Harrison & Hetherington Bull Sale September 2009.
The photos include Kimo, pictured at 100 tonne, her Lheros
daughter group (right), and her Allen daughter group
(below), say more about this outstanding family than I ever
could. Suffice to say it is a privilege to have a cow like this
on the farm.
