BREEDERS ACHIEVEMENTS
Kirkwood Diana 44 EX95-5E LP100
Bred & owned by J & HW Cornthwaite & Sons
Pictured right is Kirkwood Diana 44 EX 95-5E LP100 earlier this
summer having produced 97 tonnes.
She is still one of our best and favourite cows at Kirkwood.
She was Champion cow in the NMR Herd Competition 6 years
ago, and this year she came 3
rd
in the Lancashire Club Herds
Competition (Medium Herds) individual cow. Some achievement
for a cow having produced 100 tonnes of milk.
She only scored GP82 as a heifer but by April 2007 she had
scored 95 points (97 points for legs and feet). She is a daughter
of the great Maughlin Storm.
She certainly is a cow that gets better with age as her best
lactation was her 7
th
giving 12,469kgs 305 days 4.47% fat 3.08%
protein.
We sold her first daughter through Lancaster Holstein Club
Sale to the Belahvalley Herd where she went VG87 and gave
10,943kgs 305 days 4.25% fat 3.10% protein. We only have one
more daughter which is her last calf by Charpentier Magot.

Egginson Roxanna 2 VG87 LP100
Bred & owned by GB Sear & Sons
The Egginson herd was founded in 1933 following the dispersal
of the Eggington herd by the late Harry Sear just 12 months
earlier. The Eggington herd was 1st registered in May 1919
therefore the Sear family have milked Pedigree cows for 90 years
on the same site at Manor Farm, Eggington, Bedfordshire.
Pictured is our very first 100 tonne cow Egginson Roxanna 2
VG87, having completed 120 tonne of milk in her 10th lactation.
Roxanna is one of four F16 Rockets still milking in the herd that
between them average 88 points, have calved 40 times and
produced a total of 392,161kgs of milk to date.
Having waited all this time for our first 100 tonne cow, Egginson
Belt Edith VG88 has just completed 103 tonne fresh into her 10th
lactation and Egginson Zebo Jo EX91 has just reached 101 tonne
in her 8th lactation.
The herd of 105 currently contains 11 cows that have produced
in excess of 70 tonne of milk and that have a combined average
classification of 89 points.
Clearly longevity is catching!

Knowlesmere Buster Fay EX91-4E LP100
Bred & owned by A & J Whittaker
Knowlesmere Buster Fay EX91-4E by Fustead Blackstar Buster was bred out of a Hanoverhill Magnum who in her seven
lactations, only left us this Buster cow; her dam was purchased in our early days from the Willerby Sale in the late eighties.
Knowlesmere Buster Fay has bred us five heifer calves in eight lactations. One is a VG87 Riglio Juror Indro daughter who has
bred us a really smart heifer calf by Nethanvale Mel which narrowly missed out on going to the All Britain Calf Show this
autumn. Although not winning on that day, we feel this calf has a really bright future and will certainly be shown again.
The Fay family may not be out best known family, but it does produce quantities of milk and occasionally throws up one
that the kids can show!
