Clinton Climate Initiative
provides direction, funding
T
WO ORGANIZATIONS want to greatly increase the
number of large-scale energy saving retrofi ts
for campus buildings—the American College
and University Presidents Climate Commit-
ment (ACUPCC) and the Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI).
ACUPCC signatories can take advantage of the ben-
efi ts of CCI’s Energy Effi ciency Building Retrofi t Pro-
gram (EEBRP). Those benefi ts include project support
and use of CCI’s established relationships with private
sector fi nancial institutions, energy services compa-
nies and product manufacturers.
The EEBRP team negotiated best practice terms and
conditions with energy service companies (ESCOs) for
project development and implementation, and also
designed ways and means with fi nancial institutions.
Meanwhile, CCI has a partnership with the C40,
which is an association of 40 of the world’s largest
cities that are committed to reducing greenhouse gas
emissions (
www.c40.org). CCI has established a Pur-
chasing Alliance that leverages the buying power of
40 cities to achieve affordable pricing and faster adop-
tion of the latest energy effi cient products and tech-
nologies. Discounted pricing agreements are in place
