Around 30 years after
a person is born, the
planet Saturn makes
a full rotation around
the sun and returns
to that exact position.
Saturn Returns uses this
phenomenon to take a look at three pivotal stages of an 88-year old man’s
life. Gustin calls his home health nurse aide claiming to be sick, when in
truth he is lonely, still mourning the deaths of his wife and daughter. He
flashes back on three pivotal women in his life, all played by the same ac-
tress, while three different actors play his age progression. The endearing

Broadway’s “supercalifragilistic” stage adaptation of the award-winning hit
Mary Poppins comes to the Ahmanson Theatre for an exclusive engagement.
The musical is based on the 1964 classic Walt Disney film, starring Julie An-
drews and Dick Van Dyke. George Banks, an old-fashioned London banker,
struggles to keep a nanny for his two naughty children, Jane and Michael.
The kids compose an advertisement for their ideal nanny, one with “a cheery
disposition, rosy cheeks, who plays games—of all sorts”. George hastily tears
it up and no sooner does the “practically perfect” Mary Poppins float from the
sky into their lives. She charms George into giving her the job and the rest is
musical history. Mary Poppins plays November 13 through February 7. Tickets
