Helicopters, hang gliders and steam cannons were conceptualized
long before the U.S. industrial revolution reared its ugly head. But
like many other great thinkers, Da Vinci and the majority of his ideas
were thought to be too impractical for their time. Today, the San Diego
Air and Space Museum proudly displays replicas and models of this
genius’ mechanical devices, as well as reproductions of 12 of his most
