Marion L. Talmadge died Aug. 24. He
was a senior family preferred member who
joined the club in 1955.
Talmadge was born in Athens, Ga., in
1923. He graduated from University of
Georgia in 1943 with a bachelor of business
administration, then served in Italy with the
U.S. Army during World War II.
After the war, Talmadge returned to
Georgia and spent a 42-year career in
various capacities with the company that
became Georgia-Pacific Corporation.
Talmadge moved to Portland in 1955, and
then back to Georgia in 1982. He retired in
1988, and returned to Portland in 2002.
Talmadge was past president of the
Black Butte Ranch Association, Friends of
the Decorative Arts of the High Museum
of Atlanta, and Blue Cross of Oregon. He
served on numerous charitable boards,
