Last year,more than 2,000 Indiana students flockedCollege-planning time line
to College Goal Sunday,anannual event where families See Pages 6-8 for atime line to help
with college-bound kids get help completing financial aidhigh school students stay on track
paperwork. Celebrating its 20th a nniversary this year,Collegefor college.
Goal Sunday is one of many events designed to assist students
and families as they plan for college.
Other examples include college fairs, school open house
days and financial aid information sessions.
One of the first events of the college-planning season is the
Indianapolis National College Fair,coming Nov.16tothe
Indiana Convention Center.
“We’ll have over 200 colleges there from across the country,
so students will be able to get information on academics,
financial aid, scholarships, athletic eligibility and more,” said
Mike Jaskoski, co-chair for the event, which is sponsored by
the NationalAssociation for CollegeAdmission Counseling.
The event will be open from 9a.m. to noon and from 6to8
p.m., so it’saccessible to families with busy schedules.Amap

In addition to school booths, the fair will offer information
sessions on financial aid, the admission process, essay writing
and more.
“It’skind of aone-stop shop in terms of getting ready for
college,” Jaskoski said.
The fair is geared toward high school juniors and seniors,
but all students are welcome to attend. Sometimes, guidance
