In our business I was the one who felt that
going into Westfi eld could be a big mistake.
I hope I’m proved wrong because I was
very nervous at fi rst. We’ve got a good spot
opposite M&S and we’re very pleased with
the footfall provided by Westfi eld. Business
has exceeded expectation but whether this
is due to initial interest or Christmas trading
is unsure.
The operators did want us to have a new
look and we did go through a lot of design meetings with them and produced a very graphic
use of the shopfront using its extraordinary height. The eight metre high windows cost us
£55,000 alone, which made our eyes water I can tell you.
I get the feeling every retailer is over budget on design and fi t but that’s the nature of
working with a project like Westfi eld.
The Centre has had an impact on our other stores in Kensington and Hammersmith but
hasn’t affected our Kings Road outlet. But I’m sure it’ll settle down.
