ANDREW PENHALE, TREBANOS
When did you become interested in modelling?
I’d never really thought about modelling until two years
ago, when a photographer saw me at rugby training and
asked me to do a shoot for AussieBum underwear. Through
that I met some really great photographers, and the work
followed on from there.
What have you done so far?
One of my biggest campaigns was launching Lab C
skincare for men and a few months ago I did an advert
for Powerade promoting rugby skills with Shane
Williams. Rugby has always been a big part
of my life so it was great to combine that
with my modelling.
What are your aspirations now?
At the moment, I’m working as a supply
teacher so that works really well with my
modelling as I can take or turn down teaching
jobs, according to what modelling work I get.
Ideally, I’d like to do more commercial work
and keep up with my rugby. I’m lucky enough
to have my own sprinting and weights coach,
and do a lot of training alone too which is
great for my rugby training and
helps with the modelling.

When did you become interested in modelling?
I’d never really thought about. It was my mother that got me into it but now I
love it. I started about a year ago after doing a promotion night at a local club.
Why does the industry appeal to you?
I went into modelling with the opinion that it was going to be full of people
with egos, so I was really surprised at how friendly everyone was. Meeting
people is probably the favourite part of my job, but, of course, the glamour can
be pretty appealing too.
What have you done so far?
Andrew Penhale
I’ve done lots of charity fashion shows and promotion work, which I love.
What are your aspirations now?
If the opportunity came up, I’d defi nitely pursue the modelling
but I’m not laying all my hopes on that. I’ll keep modelling as
long as I can, but I also work as a stripper and chef so,
as you can imagine, my work’s quite varied.
HANNAH THOMAS, NEATH
When did you become interested in modelling?
Lots of friends told me I should get into modelling, but
I’d always been really shy. I’d already started researching
the agency I’m with when I got spotted by a photographer
in Neath. Being scouted on the street spurred me on to
contact an agency. Since I started modelling, my confi dence
has really grown.
Why does the industry appeal to you?
I’ve always loved fashion, by the time I was four I already wanted to pick
my own clothes out. I also love the social side of it and, of course, it’s a
great confi dence boost.
What have you done so far?
I’ve done lots of shoots along with promotional work and local fashion
shows, but one of the highlights was a charity event I recently hosted with
Amanda Davies, my agent.
What are you aspirations now?
I’m currently a student at Neath Port Talbot College studying textiles,
graphics, photography and communications. Even if I’m not able to work
full-time as a model, I’d love a career in the industry and hope to do fashion
promotion.
