THE MALE MODEL
PETER SHEATH
Model and former Mr Europe
“I never planned to get into modelling, I just fell into
it. After fi nishing my degree in radiography at Cardiff
University, I entered a competition for Mr Europe and
won. I ended up getting signed with an agency when
I was 24 on the back of that, and it just took off from
there. I’m originally from Morriston, but am now based
in London and signed to MOT Models.
“Male modelling does have a bit of a stigma attached
to it, but most of my friends thought it was great when
I started modelling. Some people assume you’re going
to have a massive ego but once people get to know
me they see that I’m not like that at all.
“Modelling has given me some amazing
opportunities, but like everything there are
good and bad sides. Travelling is probably
the best thing; it’s great to be able to see
the world through your job. The worst thing
is you’re not on a regular wage.
“My career highlight would have to be the
campaign for Abercrombie & Fitch. The
shoot was in Texas with Bruce Webber, one
of the best photographers in the business.
And being on the cover of Men’s Health fi ve
times was a personal achievement for
me, as I’ve always been into the gym.
“Last year I started up my own business
running a club night with my brother.
We’ve had really successful nights
in London and also held a night in
Swansea in April, which we’re hoping to
do again before Christmas. Modelling
defi nitely played a part in making the
nights a success, as all the networking
I’ve done has given me the contacts to
fi ll the clubs.”
