We all felt the loss.

There was a void when Appa passed away. It was so sudden.

No one expected him to go when he was getting so much better. I suppose the
shock of knowing the true story of what happened to Vijay. That’s what possibly
did it. That’s what turned things.

It was just too much to bear. Amma having hidden the truth from him for
sometime. Even that would have hurt him.

She did it out of love and concern. She knew that it would hurt him. Disappoint
him. She was afraid it would affect his health.

And it did when he found out that Vijay was arrested for being one of the
country’s most ‘successful’ drug traffickers.

It surely did. In fact, it killed him.

“Sit down darling. Amma, come sit here. Marina, please bring the cakes to the
table. Come dear, let’s dig in” said the girl of my dreams.

I looked around the table. Dear God, bless my family.
