LUCY ANDREWS AND CHARLES NODEN
ON THE 15TH August, mist shrouded the beautiful Derbyshire village
of Taddington for the wedding of Holstein UK’s Lucy Andrews and
her fiancé, Charles Noden. The weather did nothing to dampen spirits
however, and on the way to the reception at Combermere Abbey,
Whitchurch, the sun broke through creating a perfect day. Lucy joined
Holstein UK in 2000 after graduating from Harper Adams and has worked
her way up to her current position as Head of Animal Policy responsible
for Holstein UK Research & Development and the CDI. A couple of
years ago, Lucy was awarded a Trehane Nuffield Farming Scholarship
and enjoyed trips to all corners of the world to investigate research
communication strategies. One of her most recent achievements was the
creation of the Centenary Virtual Cow in conjunction with John Gribbon,
which was accepted as a finalist in the Prince Philip Awards this year.
PEOPLE
Charles comes from a ‘5 generation pedigree’ of dairy farming family
from Cheshire and met Lucy through joint friends at Harper Adams. The
Noden family sold the herd some 9 years ago with Charles moving into
a brand new world of IT consultancy recruitment. Pressure was added
to the couple just before the wedding as Charles decided to ‘go for it’
and set up his own business in IT with a friend. Lucy and Charles share
their love of very fast moving vehicles by visiting the Goodwood Festival
of Speed each year, where apparently they enjoyed their very first date.
Although the couple now share a home together in Nantwich, Cheshire,
Lucy still misses her beloved hills of Derbyshire “and all the snow”. She
says that apparently “it hardly ever snows in Cheshire”! We wish them
both all the best for their future life together and suggest they go skiing!
PIP SENIOR AND PHILIP PENK
Yorkshire HYB co-ordinator Pip Senior recently married Philip Penk.
The happy couple are pictured on a glorious day in Grassington
surounded by her HYB brood.
Pip Penk continues to work for World Wide Sires and is now living
on a dairy farm in Darlington with Philip, an excellent wine maker!
Cattle photographer Lucinda Morgan found the journey to
Northern Ireland for the recent Causeway Classic worthwhile
when her name was pulled from the hat winning her a nifty
new laptop. The competition was sponsored by CIS and UDF
and Lucinda
