ALL BRITAIN CALF SHOW JUDGE 2009
T
he Master Judge of this year’s All Britain Calf Show is David Crack from Crackholm Holsteins, Richmond,
Quebec Canada.
Growing up on the family farm, David graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Education for Chemistry and
Physical Education and was then immediately approached by Alta Genetics for whom he still works today,
currently employed as Quebec Sales Manager and responsible for all marketing and sales.
At home with wife Caroline and two children Savannah (4) and Kolton (2), they now own the two-time
Master Breeder herd. Crackholm Holsteins comprises of 140 head, 35 are cows, amongst which there is
1 EX96, 2 EX92, 2 EX, and 20 VG, with a herd average of around 10,500kg at 4% fat and 3.4% protein.
Described as the true defi nition of longevity and the most successful, the EX96 in the herd is Dreane
Astre Inksou. She was the fi rst cow in Canada to score 96 points, was All-Canadian Aged Cow 2002 and
nominated All-Canadian 2005 in her 11
th
year. Inksou won the Royal twice and has been nominated for
All-Canadian six times in total.
Enjoying their involvement in the show-ring has been well rewarded at Crackholm. Since 2002
they have received 13 All-Canadian nominations, 2 Reserve All-Canadian and 4 All-Canadians. The
Crackholm motto is “The Marriage of Type and Production” and it is clear from their achievements
they follow it completely.
David became an offi cial judge in 2000, judging not just across Canada but globally. A highlight of
2006 was being asked to judge the Scotiabank Classic, held at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. We
welcome him over to England to judge at the 2009 All Britain and hope it too will be considered a
highlight for him.
