Saturday, August 15th (850km) Deep Cove to Prince George, B.C. Hwy 1, Hwy 16
The B.C. group met at Whatcom Road just off of Highway #1 at 7:30. Got our Timmies coffee and
doughnuts and departed around 8:30am. We then met Dave and Pamela Blair in Cache Creek to pick
up some additional MasterPull and Roverlander Stickers for the trucks.
Had a late arrival into Prince George and met up with Stuart Longair for Dinner at Earls - Steak &
Prawns...our last civilized meal...or so we thought. Stuart arranged for us to camp at Baldy Hughes, an
old US army base south of Prince George that he was working at. Now a rehabilitation center.
Sunday, August 16th (589km) Prince George to Fort St.John Hwy 97 via Hwy 27 (Hudson's Hope,
Peace River)
Left Baldy Hughes, and had to go back to future shop for a 12vlt power cord for my TomTom GPS and
Kris needed to be ensured that his new camera wasn't plastic? We stopped at Gerald H's in Prince
George to have a look at his Series 1 recovered Truck in planter in the back yard. In his garage was the
sweetest x-mod defender 3 door with Cyprus cammo soft top, a totally tricked up D90 and a restored
Toyota FJ40. Although this delayed our start, we all enjoyed seeing these virtually showroom trucks.
I had produced some CANOL EXPEDITION stickers for the doors of our trucks (similar to the Camel
Trophy style) and when we would pull in for either a rest stop or gas, the trucks garnered a lot of atten-
tion. Here in Canada and the US the site of 4 fully equipped Land Rovers always generated interest as
it is an unusual site.
