16th Annual Old Orchard Beach Car show
A day at the beach (Continued from page 4)
going slow in traffic, but bound for Maine.
At 7:30pm we all jumped in our cars started our
engines and were off following the Police
motorcycle escort for the Old Orchard town cruise,
Lou Valentine let the group with his chicken, sheep
and animal horn blaring away. Great cruise, and
when you get back to town you get to see the last
of the cars just staring out on the cruise.
Now the next phone call from Larry, now in
Haverhill, going to be later now, GTO broken, rear
end, wheel bearing gone, good thing he brings the
Mass Cruiser's Mechanic, Johnny,
Well they wait for ramp truck to take the GTO to
Rocky's, then pile in the Duster and off to Maine,
finally arriving at 10pm, meantime the rest of us
had Pizza, Calzones, and drinks and enjoyed the Maria Armando (L) and Lou Valentine, pulling traffic detail at the Old
evening Orchard Beach cruise, are both enjoying the day (above).
S Lou’s convertible looking sharp at the show. (below) A shot of the center of aturday, off to the show at 8am, Park and setup town. A Classic fire Truck led the cruise later that night along the beach road.
while the wives slept in joining us around 10 for a
stroll up to the top of town for breakfast, then
walking back to town, the candy store, and
shopping beckoned our wives, so the guys went
back to the show. Great show 365 cars and we did
not have to work it, just enjoy it.
Frank Bryant ending up with 2nd place in his class
and taking home a trophy and I accepted a Club
Participation trophy for the Cruisers. Saturday
evening, relaxing with dinner at the Dunegrass
Country Club, after getting lost on the way, then off
to town for the nightlife, drinks and dancing with
Frank and Neringa Bryant burning up the dance
floor. Sunday, breakfast downtown , then time to
leave, off to Route 1 and the antique shops and
flea markets, and antique car dealers, which are on
the highway on our way home, Betty Boop’s, and
Cat China plates, from shopping all packed in the
cars. Our next stop The Maine Diner, where we
were joined by Bob Smith, 65 Blue GTO from our
own cruise night and his wife who had been to the
show and flea markets with us, we had a great late
lunch, then an ice cream cone and off to Route 95
and home.
I wonder how Rocky is doing now that he has both
Larry's cars to fix? Maybe it is time for Larry, to get
a 3rd car for backup? I hear he’s going to the Fall
Carlisle, but did he bring the checkbook? We’ll find
out next month, perhaps????
