British Firework Championships

hoenix Fireworks won the
13th annual British Firework
Championships in Plymouth
on 11th & 12th August.
Firing second on the first
night, Phoenix narrowly beat
Celebration Fireworks into
second place whilst Skyburst The
Firework Company came third.
The displays were dazzling and
the crowd’s reaction told you all
you needed to know about how
much they were enjoyed.
Once again, tens of
thousands of Plymouth residents
and holidaymakers enjoyed the
superb displays which have
become an integral part of
Plymouth Summer Festival’s
entertainment programme.

teams (Dragon Dynasty, Phoenix
and Skyburst). Conditions on the
second day were not quite so
good, but only a couple of very
light showers developed to make
life slightly more difficult for the
second night teams of Vulcan
Fireworks, Celebration and
Highlight Pyrotechnics.
The competition was hot and
each display was specially
designed for the occasion.
The Lord Mayor of Plymouth,
Councillor Ken Foster, awarded
the perpetual trophy to Martin
Coffin, principal of the winning
team. He also awarded a crystal
trophy to Jon Mellen of last
years’ winners Pendragon
Fireworks.
The Plymouth City Council
