teacher retention is more important than ever.
Induction
Trinity is meeting this problem head on by
taking responsibility for the ongoing professional
Support for development of its graduates during their critical
first three years of teaching.
Beginning One of the ways it does this is through the
Summer Curriculum Writing Institute for first,
Teachers
second and third year teachers who graduated
from Trinity’s Master of Arts in Teaching program.
During the workshops, teachers write a unit of
curriculum in an area they want to improve for the
next year, something they wouldn’t have time to
do during the school year. The Institute also offers
financial workshops, networking functions and panel
discussions of experienced teachers. Since it was
started in 2005, 65 teachers have taken part, and
another 31 enrolled in the 2009 session, June 8 – 12.
