Presentation in memory of the late
Douglas Sherry, MBE
(known in the trade as “The Godfather”)
T
he late Doug Sherry, MBE was a great
friend to the taxi trade and was very highly
thought of by us all, so it was very fi tting that
on Saturday 8
th
August 2009 the committees
of three of Londonʼs taxi trade charities, The
London Taxi Benevolent Association for War
Disabled, the London Taxidriversʼ Fund for
Underprivileged Children and The Taxi Driver
of the Year Charity Fund came together to
make a donation to the London Medical centre,
Marylebone High Street, in Dougʼs memory.

The London Medical centre had been chosen
by Dougʼs wife Audrey, as it was here that Doug
received fi rst class treatment for his diabetes
and a much needed Diasend machine, value
£1,200, was donated to Dr Abrahams and his
Nurse Consultant Laila King in Dougʼs memory,
